 Trevor Bauer will face Milwaukee for the first time in his career. The Brewers are one of three MLB teams that Bauer has never faced, and the other two are San Francisco and Cleveland, where he pitched from 2013-19. Bauer has 20 strikeouts through two starts, just like teammate Sonny Gray had through two starts this season. Prior to 2020, the last Reds pitcher to have 20+ K's through two games was Mario Soto in 1982.

The Cincinnati right-hander will try to continue that early success when he starts for the visiting Reds in the opener of a three-game weekend set against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night. The Reds enter with a three-game losing streak while the Brewers have won two in a row.

Bauer gives Reds strong chance to break skid vs. Brewers

MILWAUKEE (AP)  Trevor Bauer turned in another stellar outing, and Matt Davidson and Nick Castellanos homered to lead the Cincinnati Reds past the Milwaukee Brewers 8-3 on Friday night.
Bauer (2-0) gave up three hits and one run in six innings while striking out 12. The strong performance comes on the heels of a two-hit shutout over seven innings Sunday in the second game of a doubleheader at Detroit.
