 The Astros are 9-0-2 in their last 11 series against the Angels. The 11 straight series without a loss is the second-longest active streak by any team against a divisional opponent, behind only the Braves against the Marlins (12 straight).

 Houston is just 3-3 despite outscoring its opponents, 33-25. Part of the issue is late-game offense, as the Astros are hitting an MLB-worst .113 from the seventh inning on, compared to .288 in the first six innings (third best in MLB).

 The Angels are tied with Arizona for the worst record in MLB at 2-5. Starting with a bad week is nothing new for the Angels; since 2010, they are 31-46 (.403) in the first seven games of each season, second worst over that span behind Houston's 29-47 (.382).

 Lance McCullers Jr. earned a win on Saturday in his first MLB action since his 2018 Tommy John surgery. McCullers has a 2.45 ERA and .209 opponent batting average in 11 career starts against the Angels, allowing just four home runs in 66.0 innings pitched (0.55 HR/9).

 Michael Brantley is hitting .435 (10/23) this season, best by any 2019 All-Star with at least 15 plate appearances. Houston's other 2019 All-Stars have not followed suit: Alex Bregman is hitting .174 (4/23) while George Springer is at .048 (1/21).

 Shohei Ohtani is just 4-for-23 (.174) with seven strikeouts and zero walks at the plate this season, but he has hit a three-run home run in each of the last two games. No Angel has ever hit a three-run homer or grand slam in three consecutive games.

Zack Greinke will start on the mound Saturday for the Houston Astros in their game against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, Calif., hoping he'll have a little more in the gas tank than he did in his first start of the season last Sunday against the Seattle Mariners.
Greinke, who got a no-decision, gave up three runs on four hits and two walks while making 58 pitches in 3 1/3 innings of a 7-6 loss.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP)  Hansel Robles gave up a go-ahead homer to George Springer with two outs in the ninth, and the Los Angeles Angels looked crushed. Their leaky bullpen had blown another late lead and put them on course for another discouraging loss.
For the first time in this short season, the Angels responded to their relievers' woes with some clutch offense of their own.
