 The Indians and Twins are two of the four AL teams with 4+ wins this season (also Tampa Bay and Detroit -- both 4-2). Cleveland and Minnesota have finished 1-2 in the AL Central in each of the three previous seasons (Cleveland won division in 2017 and 2018; Minnesota in 2019).

 The Indians have won four straight season series against the Twins, but it has been by the slimmest of margins, 10-9, in three of the four seasons, including 2019. Cleveland is 18-9 at Target Field since 2017, the best record by any team with at least four games played in Minnesota.

 In 2016, the Twins started the season 0-9, but in the last four seasons, Minnesota has done well in the first week: 2017 started 5-1, 2018 started 4-2, 2019 started 4-1 and this season 4-1 through five games.

 Francisco Lindor's 11 home runs against the Twins since 2018 are the most by any player. Carlos Santana (54 runs, 52 RBI) is the only non-Twin (never played for the Twins from 2010-20) to accumulate 50+ runs and 50+ RBI at Target Field.

 Max Kepler's six home runs against Cleveland in 2019 were the most by any player against the Indians. Unfortunately for Max, five of the six home runs were off Trevor Bauer and he is now a Cincinnati Red. Kepler's 14 career home runs against Cleveland are his most versus any opponent.

 Two 2019 All-Stars face off in this one, but they are coming off two very different Opening Day starts. Cleveland's Shane Bieber dominated the Royals last Friday, throwing six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out 14. Jose Berrios, on the other hand, struggled last Friday at the White Sox, allowing five earned runs in just 4.0 innings of work and struck out just one.

Right-hander Mike Clevinger will try to extend Cleveland's franchise-record, starting-pitching streak on Friday night when the Indians face the Minnesota Twins in Minneapolis.
Cleveland's rotation has compiled a 5-0 record with a 1.53 ERA in the first seven games of the season. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that Indians starters have gone six or more innings in each of those contests while allowing two or fewer runs, a franchise record.

Clevinger next up for strong-pitching Indians vs. Twins

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)  Max Kepler hit his second leadoff home run of the season, Alex Avila added his first homer for Minnesota, and the Twins beat the Cleveland Indians 4-1 on Friday night.
Randy Dobnak (1-1) pitched five scoreless innings for Minnesota following a day of COVID-19 testing and uncertainty due to two positive tests by the St. Louis Cardinals.
