 The Rays took 12 of the 19 meetings with the Orioles last season, including seven of 11 in the second half. Tampa Bay has won or split its last eight series with Baltimore dating back to August 2018, one shy of the longest streak by either team in the series (Rays, nine straight in 2009-10).

 Tampa Bay dropped both games in Atlanta after winning both home games against the Braves earlier in the week. The Rays have tallied just one extra-base hit in their last three games after slugging an MLB-high 20 extra-base hits in their first four games.

 Baltimore was swept by the Yankees in a rescheduled two-game set at Camden Yards. The Orioles had 11 hits in the series, seven of which were extra-base hits. For the season, Baltimore is the only team which has had more than half of its hits go for extra bases.

 Willy Adames has tallied a hit and a run in each of his last four games and leads the Rays with a .455 on-base percentage (min. 10 PA). Adames hit .246 in 18 games against the Orioles last year after batting .314 against Baltimore in 2018.

 Blake Snell returns to the rubber after going just two innings in an innings-restricted start to begin the season. Snell has allowed nine earned runs in just 7.2 innings -- a 10.57 ERA -- in his two career starts at Camden Yards.

 Alex Cobb allowed one earned run in 5.1 innings against Boston in his first start of the season. He is 0-3 with a 4.63 ERA in four career starts against Tampa Bay, the team with which he started his career.

BALTIMORE (AP)  Anthony Santander hit an odd home run off Blake Snell and had three RBIs to help the Baltimore Orioles beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3 Friday night.
The Orioles trailed 2-0 in the fourth inning before Renato Nunez doubled and Santander followed with a drive to center. Kevin Kiermaier backed up to the wall, leaped and stuck his glove high above the 7-foot barrier.
