 The Rockies and Rangers last met in 2018 in Texas with the Rangers taking two of three games. In the deciding game of the series, Wade Davis blew a three-run lead in the ninth inning and lost the game, 13-12, allowing the walkoff hit to Jose Trevino. That is the most recent of four occasions when the Rockies have been walked-off in the ninth after entering the bottom half with a lead of 3+ runs.

 The 2019 Rockies finished fourth in the NL West at 71-91 following a wild card berth in 2018 after losing the division title in a Game 163 (91-72). Colorado is one of two current franchises to have never won their division (Miami Marlins, both franchises began in 1993).

 The 2019 Texas Rangers finished third in the AL West at 78-84, an improvement of 11 wins from their 67-95 finish in 2018. The Rangers were 10 games over .500 (46-36) thru June 28 of last season, but went just 32-48 (.400) the rest of the way.

 Lance Lynn had a 3.67 ERA and struck out 246 batters in 208.1 innings in 2019 (10.63 K/9, highest of his career). His career-best FIP (fielding-independent pitching) of 3.16 ranked third among qualified American League pitchers behind Gerrit Cole (2.68) and Charlie Morton (2.85).

The Texas Rangers and Colorado Rockies wrap up their three-game series on Sunday, and the focus will be on the comeback stories of both starters.
When right-hander Corey Kluber makes his debut with the Rangers, it will be after a disappointing 2019 with the Cleveland Indians. Kluber, who won the AL Cy Young Award in 2014 and 2017 with Cleveland, made only seven starts last season. A line drive last May 1 fractured his pitching arm, and a late-season comeback was aborted when he sustained an oblique injury.

Kluber, Freeland set for debuts as Rangers, Rockies clash

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Trevor Story homered twice for Colorado after Corey Kluber left his Texas debut with shoulder tightness, and the Rockies beat the Rangers 5-2 on Sunday.
Kluber, who was acquired in an offseason trade with Cleveland, lasted just one inning and 18 pitches in his first start in almost 15 months. The two-time Cy Young Award winner was knocked out of his last start for the Indians on May 1, 2019, after his right forearm was broken by a comeback liner.
