 Baltimore took two of three games at Fenway Park to end the 2019 season, the only series win for the Orioles at Boston over the past two seasons (1-4-1). Boston's 28-10 record against Baltimore in all locations since 2018 is tied for the fourth-best mark against a divisional opponent over that span.

 The 2019 Orioles finished in fifth place in the AL East for the third consecutive season with a 54-108 record after going 47-115 in 2018. The O's had not lost 100 games in consecutive seasons since 1953 and 1954, their last season in St. Louis (as the St. Louis Browns) and first season in Baltimore.

 The Red Sox had six players hit 20+ home runs in 2019, which is tied with the 2003 squad for the most the club has had in any season all-time. Mookie Betts is the only one of those six players not returning to Boston this season (traded to the Dodgers last offseason).

 Tommy Milone went 4-10 with a 4.76 ERA in 23 appearances with Seattle in 2019, mostly as the second pitcher following an opener (only six starts). Milone is 0-3 with a 9.26 ERA in five appearances (all starts) against Boston, allowing at least two home runs in each game and 13 in total.

 After 160 career regular-season starts, Nathan Eovaldi will get to be his club's opening-day starter. When considering his eight season debuts, Eovaldi is 3-1 with a 4.37 ERA and a .232 opponent batting average.

 Rafael Devers ended last season with 32 home runs and 201 hits, joining Alex Rodriguez, Joe DiMaggio and Hal Trosky as the only players in MLB history to post a season with 200+ hits and 30+ home runs at age 22 or younger. Devers recorded hits 199, 200 and 201 against the Orioles in the final game of 2019.
