 The Mets have gone 38-20 (.655) on Opening Day, the best record among all 30 current franchises. That includes wins in each of their last three season openers, the second-longest active winning streak -- the Astros have won seven straight.

 The Braves have opened three previous seasons against the Mets—in 2004 at Turner Field, and in 2012 and 2017 at Citi Field. Atlanta scored two runs off Tom Glavine in the first inning of that 2004 meeting, but failed to score in the remaining 26 innings of those three games.

 Last season Pete Alonso set a major league rookie record with 53 home runs. Even in this shortened season, Alonso could break the record for homers in a player's first two seasons: 75 by Joe DiMaggio (1936--37). Of note: Ronald Acuna Jr. hit 67 homers over his first two seasons (26 in 2018, 41 last year).

 Ronald Acuna Jr. hit 41 home runs at age 21 last season, turning 22 last December. He was the third player to hit 40+ home runs in his age-21 season or younger, joining the Milwaukee Braves' Eddie Mathews (47 in 1953) and the Giants' Mel Ott (42 in 1929).

 Jacob deGrom is a two-time reigning Cy Young Award winner, but his win totals in 2018 (10--9) and 2019 (11--8) were the lowest by a Cy Young winner in the 64-year history of the award (excluding relievers).

 Mike Soroka (15--5) and Walker Buehler (23--9) are the only pitchers from the 2015 June Amateur Draft with at least 10 wins in the majors. Soroka was the 28th overall pick in 2015, and he was one of three first-round picks by the Braves that year. The others were Kolby Allard (#14) and Austin Riley (#41).
