 This is the fifth World Series in which the road team won the first four games (also 1906, 1923, 1986 and 1996). The two most recent occurrences also happen to be the last two times that a team won the World Series after trailing that series, 2-0 (1986 -- Mets over Red Sox and 1996 -- Yankees over Braves).

 In the best-of-seven format in the World Series, the winner of Game 5 when the series is tied 2-2 has gone on to win that series 67.4 percent of the time (29/43).

 With his 7th inning grand slam in Game 4, Alex Bregman joined Ken Boyer (Game 4 in 1964) as the only third basemen all-time to hit a grand slam in the World Series. Bregman also became the first third baseman all-time with five RBI in a single World Series game.

 Michael Brantley has recorded eight base-hits in his first four career World Series games, tying him with Deion Sanders and Vic Wertz for the second-most hits by a left-handed batter in his first four World Series games all-time (Home Run Baker -- 9).

 In the first two games of this series, Washington batted .333 (7-for-21) with 10 RBI with runners in scoring position. Over the last two games, the Nationals have a .053 (1-for-19) batting average with runners in scoring position with one RBI.

 Including Game 3 of the ALCS at Yankee Stadium, Gerrit Cole has gone eight straight roads starts allowing one run or fewer (Houston has won all eight). The last time a pitcher allowed one or fewer runs in eight straight road starts in a single season that all ended in team wins was in 1968, when Bob Gibson did so in 10 consecutive outings.

 Of the 29 pitchers who have thrown at least 100 innings in the playoffs, Max Scherzer's .193 opponent batting average in the postseason is bested only by Mariano Rivera (.175). Scherzer's 11.27 strikeouts per nine innings lead that group by a wide margin -- Justin Verlander is second at 9.95.
