 Washington set franchise postseason records for runs scored (12) and winning margin (9) in Wednesday's 12-3 Game 2 victory, while tying the team mark with 14 hits. It was the Nationals' eighth consecutive win, tying the MLB record for a single postseason (also 2004 Red Sox, 2005 White Sox and 2014 Royals).

 Teams going up 2-0 in the World Series have gone on to win the Series 80 percent of the time historically (44-11), including wins in 11 straight and 17 of the last 18. The last team to overcome such a deficit was the 1996 Yankees, who won in six games versus the Braves.

 After leading the majors with a .274 batting average in the regular season, the Astros are hitting only .216 in the playoffs -- better only than the Cardinals this postseason (.201). Houston is just 8-for-62 (.129) with runners in scoring position since the start of the ALCS against New York.

 In his postseason career, Alex Bregman is slashing .260/.376/.558 with six home runs and 16 RBI in home games, compared to .194/.359/.339 with two homers and five RBI on the road. His eight career postseason home runs are tied for fourth most in team history.

 Zack Greinke threw 7.1 shutout innings in a win against the Nationals on June 13 (with Arizona), and is 6-1 with a 1.27 ERA in nine career starts against them -- the second-lowest ERA by any pitcher all-time with at least five starts against that franchise (Jose Fernandez, 0.99).

 Asdrubal Cabrera had totaled two hits and two RBI this postseason entering Game 2 on Wednesday, when he had two hits and three RBI in five at-bats. Cabrera is 16-for-37 (.432) in his career against Zack Greinke, with three home runs and six RBI.

 Anibal Sanchez hasn't pitched since throwing 7.2 shutout innings in a win over St. Louis in Game 1 of the NLCS (October 11), allowing just one hit. It was the first time in franchise history that a pitcher allowed no runs and one or fewer hits in a start; Max Scherzer then did it in Game 2 the next day.
