 The Athletics have won eight of the last 11 matchups with the Mariners after losing the season's first four meetings. This is Oakland's best 11-game single-season stretch against Seattle since going 9-2 from June 26-September 30, 2012.

 Matt Chapman hit his 35th homer of the season Wednesday to become just the fifth Athletic all-time with 35 or more homers and 35 or more doubles in a season. He joins Jason Giambi in 2001, Reggie Jackson in 1969 and '75, Jimmie Foxx in 1933 and Al Simmons in 1930.

 Marcus Semien has a .410/.478/.803 slash line with six homers, six doubles, 14 RBI and 16 runs during a 14-game on-base streak. He hit his 43rd double of the season Wednesday, and now has 82 extra-base hits on the season, the most by an Oakland batter since Jason Giambi had 87 in 2001.

 The Mariners have lost 25 of their last 32 games against AL West opponents and are 25-47 against division foes this season. That .347 winning percentage is Seattle's worst within the AL West since the 2010 team went 17-40 (.298).

 After nearly being no-hit Wednesday, the Mariners have totaled just one run and 13 hits in their last three games combined. The only other time in franchise history the M's combined for a run or less and 13 hits or fewer hits in a three-game span in a single season came May 6-8, 2008.

SEATTLE (AP)  Tanner Roark seemed to describe perfectly the approach of the playoff-bound Oakland Athletics on the final day of the regular season.
''I don't know. It was a 12 o'clock game, last game of the season, we've already clinched a wild-card spot, so I'm sure you guys can imagine where our minds are at,'' Roark said.
