 Houston has a +265-run differential on the season, currently the third best of any team in the past 50 years (1998 Yankees, +309 and 2001 Mariners, +300). The Astros had a run differential of +263 last year; they can become the first team to post consecutive seasons with a run differential of +250 or better since the Yankees did so in four straight seasons from 1936-39.

 The Astros have won 11 straight games against the Mariners, and are 16-1 against Seattle on the season. If Houston wins both games of this series, it will tie the best record of any team against a divisional opponent in a season (divisional era started in 1969): the Indians are 18-1 against the Tigers this season.

Cole dominated again Tuesday night, striking out 14 with no walks to win his 15th consecutive decision in a 3-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
