 The Cubs swept a three-game set from the Brewers at Wrigley Field from Aug. 2-4 to take a 7-5 edge in the season series. Milwaukee has lost five straight to the Cubs in Chicago and has scored two runs or fewer in each of those defeats.

 The Cubs will play 23 of their final 29 games against NL Central foes, with 13 of those contests to be held at Wrigley Field. Chicago has won 11 of its last 12 divisional games at home while outscoring the opposition by a 68-32 margin.

 Milwaukee has scored 51.8 percent of its runs this season via the home run, the largest amount in the National League and second-highest in MLB (Toronto, 53.3). The Brewers are 3-16 since May 18 when failing to homer, the second-worst record in the NL over that span behind only Philadelphia (2-17).

 Ryan Braun is batting .364 with a 1.040 OPS in August and has hit safely in 18 of his last 19 starts. Braun has four home runs in his last 12 games at Wrigley Field dating back to last August, and all have come off Friday's starter Jose Quintana.

 Quintana will be making his 14th start against Milwaukee since the 2017 All-Star break, the most by any pitcher versus a single opponent in that time frame. Six of those starts have come at Wrigley Field, where he's 3-2 with a 2.72 ERA against the Brewers since 2018.

 Chase Anderson enters Friday's start on five days rest, where he's 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA in five starts this season. He's just 1-3 with a 5.25 ERA in 12 starts when working on four days rest.

The first game of the Chicago Cubs' back-to-back weekend series against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers went exactly to plan, with a long road still ahead to determine just how much weight the seven games between National League Central rivals will carry.
The Cubs received yet another solid performance from Nicholas Castellanos, who hit a pair of home runs and has endeared himself to the Wrigley Field faithful. He will carry that momentum into the second game of the three-game series Saturday, with a four-game series between the teams set for next weekend in Milwaukee.
