 The Tigers have a 1-19-2 (.091) series record since May 31, the worst in the majors over that time. Detroit's only series win its last 22 series came when the team took two of three games against the Angels in late July.

 The Astros return home after going 4-6 on a 10-game road. Since the All-Star break, Houston is an MLB-best, 10-1, at home, while leading the majors in home ERA (1.87) and runs per game at home (7.27).

At first blush, the challenge facing the Houston Astros over the opening four games of their 10-game homestand seems minor when taking into consideration the opponent is the Detroit Tigers.
The rebuilding Tigers entered the series having lost 27 of 36 games since the All-Star break, and they featured three rookies plus three others with fewer than 450 career plate appearances in their starting lineup Monday.

HOUSTON (AP)  Houston's win over Detroit on was tempered by news that shortstop Carlos Correa and starter Aaron Sanchez are both heading to the injured list.
George Springer, Jose Altuve and Martin Maldonado homered to lead the Astros to a 6-3 victory Tuesday night before manager A.J. Hinch announced the impending moves.
