Pittsburgh heads west to Los Angeles for a three-game interleague series. The Angels took the last two games to split their weekend series in Boston, snapping an eight-game losing streak. The Pirates enter on an eight-game skid and with an MLB-worst 4-24 record since the All-Star break.

Pirates starting pitchers have a 6.41 ERA since the All-Star break, second-worst in the NL. In that time, Pittsburgh's starters are also among the league's worst with three wins (30th), a .283 opponent batting average (24th) and 34 home runs allowed (27th).

The Angels' bullpen has a 4.61 ERA and .250 opponents' batting average, ranking 18th in both, but has surrendered an MLB-worst 230 walks and 90 home runs, second-most in the majors.

Josh Bell hit two home runs against the Cardinals on Sunday, snapping a 26-game homerless streak, the second-longest of his career. Bell is slashing .304/.429/.652 in seven August games after slashing .213/.318/.448 in June and July combined.

Mike Trout's sixth-inning home run on Saturday was the first of his career at Fenway Park, the last AL stadium for Trout to go yard in. He had been homerless in his first 21 games at Fenway. Entering the series against the Pirates, he has homered in three of his last four interleague games.
