The Yankees head to Toronto for the second time this season, having lost two of three north of the border in early June. However, New York has taken six of the last seven meetings with the Blue Jays, though five of those seven games have been decided by two runs or fewer.

New York is coming off a three-game sweep in Baltimore and has won eight straight, matching its longest win streak this season. With 16 total home runs in Baltimore this week, the Yankees joined the 1977 Red Sox as the only teams all-time to hit 5+ home runs in three straight games.

Toronto took two of three in Tampa Bay, its third straight series with at least a split after losing six of the previous seven series dating back to July 2. Gio Urshela enters the weekend series on a 12-game hit streak in which he's hitting .429 (21-for-49), the longest active hitting streak in MLB. The streak has raised his average to .319, while teammate DJ LeMahieu is hitting .335; those would be the highest batting averages by players in their first year with the Yankees since Mariano Duncan hit .340 in 1996 (min. 300 plate appearances).

Former Blue Jay J.A. Happ is scheduled to start for the Yankees on Friday. Since joining the Yankees midseason last year, Happ is 9-2 with a 3.70 ERA against AL East opponents, including 2-1 with a 2.55 ERA in three starts against Toronto.

Bo Bichette extended his career-opening hit streak to 10 games, the longest career-opening streak by an AL player since Minnesota's Glenn Williams had a hit in all 13 games of his MLB career in 2005. Bichette also has a double in each of his last eight games; that ties Yadier Molina (2016) and Derrek Lee (2007) for the longest streak in the modern era (since 1900).

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a go-ahead, two-run triple in the seventh inning and the Toronto Blue Jays rallied to beat the Yankees 5-4 Saturday, handing New York its second straight loss following a season-high nine game winning streak.
