 The Mariners swept the Tigers in four games, allowing two runs or fewer in all four games. It's the second time in franchise history that Seattle has swept a four-game series while allowing two runs or fewer in each of the games (also April 19-22, 2001 vs. Angels).

 At 53-53, this is the 17th time that the Rangers have been exactly .500 this season. Only the Diamondbacks (23) have been exactly .500 more often than Texas this season.

 Mike Leake picked up the win against Texas in his last start on July 24, going 7.0 innings without allowing a walk. It was his sixth start this season of at least 7.0 innings and zero walks, tied with Walker Buehler, Zack Greinke and Hyun-Jin Ryu for the most such games in MLB this season.

 Daniel Vogelbach enters this series with 25 home runs and 64 walks this season. He is one of three Mariners all-time with 25+ home runs and 60+ walks in a season prior to August, along with Jay Buhner in 1997 and Alex Rodriguez in 2000.

Facing M's, Rangers turn to Minor ... for now

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)  Mike Minor was tired of talking about all the speculation over the last few weeks that he was going to be traded by the Rangers. With that distraction over and the All-Star lefty still in Texas, he can focus on fixing some mechanical issues.
Minor won for the first time in more than a month, with the Rangers going ahead to stay after he had thrown the last of his 103 pitches in a 9-7 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night, hours after the trade deadline passed.
