 Following a 6-4 homestand, the A's hit the road for the next six. They're a MLB-best 12-4 on the road since May 16 after having the majors' second-worst road record on May 15 at 5-15. They have the AL's third-best road ERA since May 16 at 4.05 after posting a 5.40 ERA in their first 20 road games.

 Matt Chapman has reached base safely in 11 straight games, slashing .350/.447/.700 with two homers, six doubles and a triple. Since his streak began June 12, his nine extra-base hits are tied with Boston's Xander Bogaerts for the most in the AL.

 Slugger Khris Davis, meanwhile, has just six extra-base hits in 27 games since May 14. Of the 194 major leaguers with at least 110 plate appearances since May 14, only three -- the Royals' Billy Hamilton, the Angels' Jonathan Lucroy and the White Sox's Yolmer Sanchez -- have fewer than six extra-base hits.

 The Cardinals are 5-4 since June 15, posting a 1.34 ERA in their wins and a 5.84 ERA in their defeats. Their 3.52 ERA this month ranks fourth in MLB and they've won 15 of their last 16 games when allowing three runs or less.

 Paul Goldschmidt has a .158/.256/.342 slash line in his last 11 contests and is batting just .133 (4-for-30) without an extra-base hit in eight interleague games this season. He is hitting .191 in the seventh inning or later after batting .308 in such situations last year.

 Marcell Ozuna is tied for third in the NL with 62 RBI but also has an NL-high 134 men left on base and has grounded into the second-most double plays in the league with 12. He grounded into 10 double plays all of last season.

After a day off to recover from the emotion of Albert Pujols' return to St. Louis, the Cardinals will open a two-game series against the visiting Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals, 4-3 with two games remaining on their homestand, will start right-hander Jack Flaherty (4-4, 4.24 ERA) against Oakland righty Chris Bassitt (4-3, 3.64) in the opener.
