 The Braves are 5-1 against Miami this season, and outscored the Marlins 19-5 to sweep a three-game series in Miami last month. The Marlins managed just 15 hits in those games, their fewest in a three-game series against Atlanta since finishing with 13 from August 9-11, 2013.

 Mike Soroka, Atlanta's starter for the opener, allowed three hits and two unearned runs in seven innings of a 9-2 win at Miami on May 4. He has a 1.41 ERA and 0.91 WHIP this year, and the last pitcher to have numbers that low through nine starts of his rookie season was Fernando Valenzuela in 1981 (0.91 ERA, 0.82 WHIP).

 Dansby Swanson slugged his 13th homer on Wednesday after hitting 14 all of last season in 136 games. He's slugging .500 in 2019 a year after slugging .395 for an improvement of .105 -- the largest increase by a qualifying Braves hitter since Vinny Castilla saw an improvement of .113 from 2002 to '03.

 Freddie Freeman homered and walked in Thursday's loss to the Pirates and has now reached base 107 times -- tied with Christian Yelich for the second most in the NL. In 54 plate appearances with nobody on and nobody out this season, Freeman has a 1.271 OPS to rank second among NL qualifiers

 The NL-worst Marlins have gone 7-3 in their last 10 games behind a 2.10 ERA from their starting pitchers. It's the lowest ERA by Miami starters over a 10-game span since posting 2.09 from April 24-May 5, 2018.

 Jose Urena gets the ball in the series opener, and has a 2.53 ERA over a five-start stretch since permitting five runs in six innings in a 7-2 loss to the Braves on May 3. He has a 6.07 career ERA against Atlanta compared to a 3.87 ERA against the other three NL East teams.

Two right-handers on a roll will match up on Saturday, when the Atlanta Braves play the host Miami Marlins for the middle game of a weekend series.
The Braves, who won Friday's series opener 7-1, will start Julio Teheran (3-4, 3.28 ERA). Teheran has posted a 0.83 ERA in his last six starts, a span that began against the Marlins on May 5. In that game, Teheran allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out four in six scoreless innings.

MIAMI (AP)  Rookie Austin Riley and the Atlanta Braves made the most of their hits, thanks to Julio Teheran and a trio of relievers.
Teheran pitched six sharp innings and Riley scored the only run, lifting the Braves over the Miami Marlins 1-0 on Saturday.
