 The Royals were swept in three games against the White Sox in their last series -- all three games were decided by a single run. Kansas City is an MLB-worst 4-12 this season in games decided by one run.

 The Rangers won two of three in Seattle in their most recent series, and are 10-4 over their last 14 games. Texas currently has a 27-26 record -- the team has been within one game of .500 for 40 days this season, the most of any team in the majors.

The Texas Rangers likely will be without slugger Joey Gallo as they finish a four-game series against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday in Arlington, Texas.
Gallo left Saturday's game in the middle of a plate appearance with a strained oblique. The team will wait for the results of an MRI exam performed after the game to determine what to do next, but Texas manager Chris Woodward says the team won't push it.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)  Adrian Sampson provided evidence Sunday that he doesn't need to follow a closer to the mound for the Texas Rangers to be successful.
The 27-year-old right-hander struck out a career-high 11 in seven innings and earned his first major league win as a starter, leading the Rangers over the Kansas City Royals 5-1.
