 The Brewers allowed five runs to the Twins in the seventh inning in a 5-3 loss on Tuesday, with all five runs charged to the bullpen. Milwaukee's bullpen has a 6.19 ERA since May 17, sixth highest in MLB. The relief corps had a 4.01 ERA entering May 17.

 Pittsburgh beat Cincinnati, 7-2, on Wednesday after losing, 11-6, the night before. The Pirates are 21-11 when they allow three runs or fewer in a game, best record in MLB. They are 6-16 when allowing more than three runs, fifth worst in baseball.

 Milwaukee is 6-14 on the road against Pittsburgh since 2017, its worst road record against any opponent. The Brewers are 38-29 in road games against the rest of the NL Central in that time.

 Christian Yelich will be playing in his 50th game of the season and already has hit 21 home runs. The only reigning MVP to hit more home runs through 50 games of the season is Albert Pujols in 2006 (25).

 Josh Bell has hit a team-leading 18 home runs this season, while Starling Marte has the second most with six. That gap in home runs (12) between a team leader and second place is the largest by any team in MLB.

 Ryan Braun has 56 career RBI when playing at PNC Park, fourth most by a visiting player in the ballpark's history. He needs three more RBI to pass Lance Berkman for third all-time. Braun, however, has just three RBI over his last 17 games at PNC Park.

The Milwaukee Brewers don't need Christian Yelich to hit homers to win. After all, Yelich didn't add to his total of 21 on Thursday. Instead, he watched his teammates hit four homers in a series-opening 11-5 win over the host Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.
The Brewers haven't had the best of luck on the road but used that power to move to 14-14 away from home going into Friday's second game of a four-game set.

Brewers aim to keep momentum going vs. Pirates

PITTSBURGH (AP)  Josh Bell spent some time in the seats above the Clemente Wall in right field at PNC Park on Friday night, carefully folding a handful of gold T-shirts with the phrase ''Bellieve'' on them over the chairs as part of a promotion that is doubling as an All-Star Game push for the scorching Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman.
The 26-year-old stressed, however, that he only laid out a couple of shirts. Three maybe. Four, tops. Team employees handed out the rest. Bell had other things to do pregame, namely sticking to the routine that helped him put together one of the most remarkable months in the franchise's long history.
