 The Rangers have won five straight matchups with the Mariners, including a three-game sweep in Texas last week. Texas won their last two games in Seattle, 15-1 and 14-1, just the second time in franchise history it has scored 14-plus runs in consecutive road games against an opponent (at Mil, August 1991).

 The Rangers dropped two of three to the Angels in Anaheim over the weekend. Six of Texas' last seven games have been decided by a single run and the other was by two runs. Texas is 7-2 in one-run games at home and 1-6 on the road.

 The Mariners' record peaked at 13-2 this season, 11 games over .500. They are now nine games under .500 after a 10-30 stretch. If the M's get to 10 games under .500 in their next four games, they will be the first team in MLB history to be 10 games over and 10 games under within 60 games of a season.

 Shin-soo Choo homered to lead off the fourth inning on Sunday against the Angels. He has a 1.295 OPS when leading off an inning this season. That is second only to Josh Bell (Pit, 1.307) among batters with 50 plate appearances to lead off an inning in 2019.

 Jay Bruce homered and doubled in a three-hit performance against the A's on Sunday. He is now at 299 career home runs. Bruce would be the fourth left-handed batter to hit his 300th career home run in a Mariners uniform alongside Ken Griffey Jr., Raul Ibanez and Robinson Cano.

 Lance Lynn is 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA in three career starts against the Mariners, which have all come since September 8, 2018. He struck out 11 Mariners when the teams met on May 21, his most strikeouts since April 14, 2014 at Milwaukee (11 strikeouts) while pitching for the Cardinals.

Batting practice is one thing. Doing it in a game is a rare accomplishment at the 20-year-old stadium.
