 The Rangers have won four straight games, and seven of their last eight overall. Over this eight-game stretch, Texas has out-homered its opponents, 19-6, while slashing .321/.383/.604 as a team.

 The Angels have lost four straight games, including getting swept in three games by the Twins in their most recent series. Los Angeles surrendered at least 10 hits in all three losses to Minnesota -- overall, the 37 hits allowed in the series were the most surrendered by the team in a three-game series in 2019.

 These teams have played two series so far this season -- the Angels won three of four games in the first series, then the Rangers swept the second series in three games. Texas is 3-10 on the road against the Angels since 2018, including losses in eight of the last nine meetings at Angel Stadium.

 Rookie Griffin Canning is 3-1 with a 3.80 ERA in four starts this season -- the rest of the Angels starters have combined to go 19-26 with a 6.09 ERA in 2019. In his last start, Canning turned in the Angels' only start this season of at least 7.0 innings and zero runs allowed.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP)  Drew Smyly has had a long road back from Tommy John elbow surgery, and the Texas left-hander put together a quality start on Friday night that helped earn him his first win in three years.
Smyly went a season-best six innings and kept the Los Angeles Angels offense in check long enough for the Rangers to rally for a 4-3 victory.
