The Mariners beat the Twins yesterday to snap a three-game losing streak, but have gone 5-15 since April 27 after opening the season 18-11. Only the Marlins (4-16 from April 21-May 15) have had a worse 20-game span this season than Seattle's last 20 games.

The Rangers took two of three from the Cardinals and have won four of their last five games overall. Texas has hit multiple home runs in each of its last six wins, and has gone 14-8 this season when hitting at least two home runs compared to 7-15 otherwise.

The Rangers and Mariners split a four-game series in late April. Texas went 5-4 versus Seattle at home last season, but has gone 8-3 at home versus divisional opponents this season. Only the Astros (7-0) have been better in such games in 2019.

Daniel Vogelbach is slashing .333/.429/1.000 with four home runs and nine RBI during his current five-game hitting streak. Vogelbach posted a 1.241 OPS in April but has cooled to a .774 mark in May.

Willie Calhoun has picked up 10 hits in 21 at-bats since making his season debut against Kansas City on May 15. He has also scored five runs -- he and Tim Anderson are the only AL hitters this season to have picked up at least 10 hits and scored at least five runs in their first five games of the 2019 season.

Mike Minor threw 7.0 innings of one-hit ball and picked up a win when he faced the Mariners on April 27. His 2.61 ERA is the lowest by any qualifying left-handed pitcher in the American League and is bettered in MLB by only Hyun-Jin Ryu (1.52) and Caleb Smith (2.25).

When Marco Gonzales last faced the Texas Rangers on April 25, he threw seven scoreless innings and tied a career-high with nine strikeouts.
With that victory, the left-hander improved to 5-0 and become the first Seattle Mariners pitcher in history to win five games by the end of April.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)  Adrian Sampson and the Texas Rangers like the results of these delayed lengthy pitching appearances, with the right-hander entering after an ''opener'' gets through the first few batters.
Sampson allowed one earned run over 5 1/3 innings after taking over in the second inning Wednesday, getting his second big league victory in a 2-1 win over the Seattle Mariners. That is the same way he got his first victory five days earlier against the St. Louis Cardinals.
