After scoring a season-high 15 runs on Saturday, Kansas City dropped the rubber game of its three-game series in Detroit yesterday, 5-2. The loss gave the Royals their MLB-high eighth series defeat of 2019.

The Astros swept their two-game series with the Angels in Mexico this weekend with a 14-2 win on Saturday and a 10-4 victory on Sunday. The 24 runs were the most for Houston in any two-game span over the last two seasons, as were its eight home runs that it hit over the two contests.

Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa will try to extend his hitting streak to a career-long 17 games when he faces the visiting Kansas City Royals in the middle game of their three-game series on Tuesday night.
Correa went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the series opener on Monday night to help the Astros to a 6-4 victory, their third straight.

HOUSTON (AP)  The first time Ryan O'Hearn ever talked to the Kansas City Royals about the possibility of one day playing for them it was at Minute Maid Park when he participated in a tournament here as a junior at nearby Sam Houston State.
In his return to the stadium on Tuesday night with 10 of his college teammates in the stands, he hit his first career grand slam to help the Royals to a 12-2 rout.
