 Baltimore split its four-game series with Boston at Fenway. The Orioles are 6-4 with a 4.29 ERA on the road this season -- they are 1-6 with an 8.29 ERA at home.

 The Rays are 12-4, matching their best start in franchise history, along with 2010, the last time they won the AL East Division. The Rays' starters have posted a 1.47 ERA, lowest by any team through 16 games since the 1981 Athletics (1.44).

 Tampa Bay won the season series against Baltimore in 2018, 11-8, winning five of the last six contests. The Orioles, however, hit 34 home runs against the Rays last season, their most against any opponent in a season in franchise history.

 Chris Davis ended the longest hitless drought by a position player in MLB history with a two-run single on April 13. Over his last three games he has four hits and six RBI, including a home run on Monday. He had previously gone 35 games without a home run dating back to last season.

 Tommy Pham has reached base in 47 consecutive games, the longest streak in Tampa Bay's history. Since his first game with the Rays on August 1, his .435 on-base percentage is second in MLB behind Christian Yelich (.438, minimum 200 plate appearances).

 In his last start, Tyler Glasnow allowed only two hits and no runs while striking out 11 in 6.0 innings of work against the White Sox. He is the first pitcher in Rays history with a sub-1.00 ERA (0.53) and at least 20 strikeouts (21) through three starts of the season.

Tampa Bay has used a mix of good pitching and timely hitting to jump off to a good start this season. The Rays are hoping for more of the same Wednesday in the second game of their series with the visiting Baltimore Orioles.
In the series opener Tuesday, Tyler Glasnow gave up two runs in seven innings and improved to 4-0 this season. His ERA went up to 1.13, but the best part of his work was that the right-hander kept the Rays in the game after the Orioles took an early 2-0 lead and then kept Tampa Bay ahead after it took the lead.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP)  The Tampa Bay Rays got some strong offensive support to back their pitching and keep up their strong play.
Brandon Lowe, Ji-Man Choi and Yandy Diaz homered in the first three innings and the Rays beat the Baltimore Orioles 8-1 Wednesday night.
