 The Mets went 2-3 during their first home stand as they allowed 41 runs while posting a 7.40 ERA. They began the season with six road games -- they went 5-1 with a 3.38 ERA in those games.

 After being swept by Philadelphia to start the season, Atlanta is 7-1, outscoring its opponents, 48-22, in that time. The Braves have slugged .576 in the first four innings since April 1, best in MLB.

 Atlanta went 13-6 against New York last season, including going 6-1 to start the season series. The Mets' bullpen posted a 6.64 ERA against the Braves, and the Braves scored 45 of their 86 runs in the seventh inning or later.

 Pete Alonso has 15 hits this season, and 11 have gone for extra-base hits. On Tuesday, he became the first player in the Modern Era (since 1900) with at least 11 extra-base hits in his first 10 career games.

 Dansby Swanson has four home runs in 11 games this season -- it took him 42 games to hit four home runs last season. The first overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft is hitting .324 this season after hitting .235 in his previous two seasons.

 Steven Matz has posted a 0.87 ERA in his first two starts this season but received a no decision in both games. He is just the third Mets pitcher to post an ERA under 1.00 with only no decisions in his first two starts of the season, along with Pat Mahomes (the father of NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes) in 2000 and Rick Anderson in 1986.

The Atlanta Braves continued locking up cornerstone players Thursday afternoon, when shortstop Ozzie Albies agreed to a seven-year deal worth a guaranteed $35 million. But hours after Albies put pen to paper, the New York Mets proved the Braves aren't the only team in the NL East with a bevy of young talent that could provide the foundation of a franchise well into the 2020s.
Pete Alonso will look to continue his torrid start Friday night, when the Mets visit the Braves in the second game of a four-game series between the division rivals.

ATLANTA (AP)  Brandon Nimmo didn't mind getting dropped from first to eighth in the Mets' batting order.
Nimmo couldn't say for sure if he felt less pressure Friday night against Atlanta, but he managed to capitalize on pitches in the strike zone instead of missing or fouling them off.
