 The Twins and Royals are tied atop the AL Central after both winning two of three games to start the year. Kansas City won the season series with the Twins last year, 10-9, including an 8-2 record at home.

 Kansas City scored 16 runs in winning its three-game series with the White Sox (5.33 per game) despite not hitting a home run in the series. The Royals are the only MLB team yet to homer in 2019.

After pulling out a 5-4 victory in 10 innings on Tuesday night, the American League Central Division-leading Minnesota Twins will try to go for a sweep of their brief two-game series with the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.
Kyle Gibson, who finished 10-13 with a 3.62 ERA in 2018, will take the mound for the Twins while Homer Bailey will make his debut for the Royals.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)  Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli really wanted to give Byron Buxton a rest, a day after the center fielder bruised his ribs when he crashed into the wall chasing down Adalberto Mondesi's inside-the-park home run.
But then the perfect situation arose to insert the speedster Wednesday, and Baldelli made the move. After Nelson Cruz drew a leadoff walk in the ninth, Buxton entered as a pinch-runner.
