 The Mets won 12 of their 17 games against the Marlins last season. That matches the most wins the Mets have had against the Marlins in a single season (2001, 2012 and 2016).

 The Mets took two of three games from the Nationals in Washington, D.C. in their season-opening series. The last two times the Mets beat the Nationals in the first series of the season, they went on to win the division (2006 and 2015).

Pete Alonso, the toast of New York City at the moment, is set to make a triumphant return to his home state of Florida on Monday night.
Alonso, the power-hitting rookie first baseman for the New York Mets, is a Tampa native and will be just a four-hour car ride from home on Monday when he faces the host Miami Marlins.
