The Indians took the season series with the Twins in 2018, 10-9, winning eight of the last 11 games after the Twins won six of the first eight.

Cleveland won the AL Central last year with a 91-71 record. The Indians have won 90+ games in three straight seasons for the first time since 1999-2001. They have only ever done so in four straight seasons one time in franchise history -- six straight years from 1950-1955.

Cleveland Indians right-hander Carlos Carrasco is proof a pitcher can return from Tommy John surgery in his 20s and emerge as an ace-caliber starter. The Minnesota Twins will hope Michael Pineda begins following Carrasco's path Sunday afternoon, when the two pitchers oppose one another as the Twins host the Indians in a finale of a three-game season-opening series.
The Indians evened the series at a game apiece Saturday, when Greg Allen hit a tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the ninth inning of a 2-1 win.

Pineda set for return as Twins host Indians

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)  Nearly two years since his last time on a big league mound, Michael Pineda looked better than ever in his Minnesota Twins debut.
Pineda was stellar in his first appearance since 2017, Nelson Cruz hit his first homer with the club and the Twins beat the Cleveland Indians 9-3 on Sunday.
