The Brewers were blanked. 3-0, by the D-backs on Sunday, and including two straight whitewashes, scored just five runs in their four-game series over the weekend in Arizona. Milwaukee has been shut out 11 times in 2015 -- tied for second most of any MLB club.

San Francisco beat Oakland, 4-3, at AT&T Park yesterday, recording its fifth straight victory, and winning for the 11th time in the last 12 games. The Giants are batting .298 since the All-Star break -- tops in MLB.

The Giants swept three from the Brewers at Miller Park earlier this season (May 25-27), and are currently riding a six-game winning streak vs. Milwaukee overall. San Francisco has beaten the Brewers four consecutive times at home, outscoring Milwaukee by a combined 35-9 in those contests.

Kyle Lohse lasted just 5.0 innings and allowed five runs (all earned) last Wednesday vs. the Indians, losing the game, and falling to 5-11 with a 6.29 ERA on the season. Lohse is 3-2 with a 4.78 ERA in five career starts against the Giants at AT&T Park.

Chris Heston threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball against the Padres last Tuesday, taking the win, and improving to 4-0 with a 2.03 ERA in his last six starts. At 10-5, Heston leads all MLB rookies in wins this year, and is the first Giant to record 10+ victories in a single season since Matt Cain went 13-12 in 2006.

Buster Posey went 4-for-4 yesterday, and is now batting .511 (23-for-45) in his last 11 games overall. Including one of two career five-hit performances last August 29, Posey is hitting .348 in 25 all-time games against the Brewers.

It's possible that Nori Aoki needs to work on his timing after two hitless efforts since returning from a 28-game absence after breaking his right fibula.
The San Francisco Giants may not want to rest him Wednesday because of his gaudy average in day games and success earlier this year against Milwaukee Brewers starter Mike Fiers.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP)  A day after making a wild throw from the outfield, Hunter Pence certainly wasn't surprised to see the Milwaukee Brewers try to test his arm again.
This time the San Francisco Giants outfielder made the Brewers pay with one of the two sparkling defensive plays he made.
