The Women's British Open will proceed without fans at Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland, the R&A announced Tuesday.

The tournament will take place Aug. 20-23 after it was in danger of being canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It will be the LPGA Tour's first major championship of the year; the Evian Championship, set to be contested in early August in France, was canceled in June.

Additionally, the Ladies Scottish Open is on track to take place at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick from Aug. 13-16, according to Golf Channel's Randall Mell.

The LPGA Tour has canceled 13 tournaments on its 2020 schedule.
