Two of the biggest names in golf won't be around for the weekend at Shinnecock Hills after Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau missed the 4-over cut at the U.S. Open.

On Thursday, both LIV Golf stars took advantage of significantly easier conditions later in the day to sit inside the top 20 for the opening round. However, Friday's tougher challenge saw the pair go the wrong way on the leaderboard.

Rahm's impressive bogey-free 68 in the first round is a distant memory after his display Friday. He made seven bogeys and a double-bogey en route to an 8-over 78. Rahm ranked 151st in short game and 150th in putting - stunning numbers in a field of 156 players.

DeChambeau's missed cut probably shouldn't come as a surprise despite the two U.S. Open trophies in his closet. His major form has dropped off significantly as of late; he's missed three straight cuts in golf's biggest events and four of his last five.

DeChambeau's iron play and putting once again let him down, as he ranked 151st on the greens and 145th in approach during a second-round 75.

Brooks Koepka's return to Shinnecock also ended quickly after the two-time champion struggled with his game in both rounds. Koepka came to the U.S. Open after withdrawing last week in Canada due to injury and will miss his first major cut of the season.

Viktor Hovland, Shane Lowry, and defending champion J.J. Spaun are among the other notables to miss the cut at the season's third major.
