Jerome Boateng laughs about time Lionel Messi embarrassed him
Leave it to a World Cup winner to brush off one of the most embarrassing moments of his career.
Jerome Boateng revealed that he enjoys a good laugh whenever he's reminded about that night in Barcelona when Lionel Messi's elusive run almost broke the internet.
As Messi surged into the Bayern Munich box, he only had Boateng to beat. A change of pace and direction left Boateng twisted before he tumbled to the ground and Messi buried Barcelona's second goal en route to victory in the Champions League semifinal.
Boateng, however, doesn't mind that one of the best players in the game was the man to make him blush.
"That doesn't really affect me," Boateng told ESPNFC. "I was laughing at myself. When you fall down or slip in a situation and somebody scores a goal, it's normal. These things happen; it happens to me, it happens to other players, I don't care about these things.
"For me, he's the best player in the world. That's football. Sometimes you look bad or something happens. I'm a defender, that doesn't kill me or anything."
While Messi has countless individual and team trophies, he'd probably trade it swap places with Boateng for the right to be named a World Cup champion.
