Real Madrid's disastrous week didn't get any better Thursday with the news that Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez suffered hamstring injuries during Tuesday's loss to Ajax in the Champions League.
Two days after Real Madrid's reign as European champions ended with an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos announced that Carvajal has a torn hamstring.
Vazquez was diagnosed with a slightly less severe hamstring injury after hobbling off the pitch in the 29th minute.
The club did not provide a timeline for either player's return to the pitch.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Carvajal will be sidelined for at least one month, ruling him out of Spain's upcoming European Championship qualifying matches against Norway and Malta.
Carvajal's absence could pave the way for Alvaro Odriozola, 23, to receive increased opportunities with the first team.
