Report: Liverpool spurns Barcelona's latest £114M bid for Coutinho

Liverpool has immediately rejected a third bid from Barcelona worth around £114 million for coveted midfielder Philippe Coutinho, according to the BBC's Phil McNulty.

The Reds have long maintained Coutinho isn't for sale - especially with just weeks remaining in the summer transfer window.

Barcelona failed with well-documented bids of £72 million and £90 million earlier this summer, but those efforts reportedly persuaded Coutinho to file a transfer request last week.

Barcelona's general manager, Pep Segura, indicated Thursday the Catalan side is "close" to signing both the Brazilian playmaker and rebellious Borussia Dortmund attacker Ousmane Dembele.

Liverpool, however, has shown no signs of budging on its hard-line stance.

Manager Jurgen Klopp said all along Barcelona was wasting its time chasing a player who's clearly off the market, adding that Coutinho has "no price."

Liverpool's ownership team, Fenway Sports Group, also used no uncertain terms in a statement last week, emphasising it wouldn't consider any bids for Coutinho.

If the figure is correct, Barcelona's proposal would have made Coutinho the second-most expensive player of all time.

The costliest, of course, is Neymar, whose £200-million move to Paris Saint-Germain forced the Blaugrana to scurry for a replacement.

Coutinho has yet to feature in a competitive match for Liverpool this season after suffering a back injury in pre-season. Despite the speculation, he has still reported to the club's training facility for treatment.

Liverpool signed Coutinho from Inter in 2013 and helped him become one of the Premier League's best midfielders.
