The Ashley Young era at Manchester United appears to be nearing an end.

Inter have approached Manchester United over the possibility of signing the 34-year-old, who is said to be ready to accept a move to the Italian club, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

Talks between the two teams are understood the be at an "advanced" stage, Romano adds.

A move for Young, whose contract expires this summer, could materialize before the January transfer window closes.

If Inter are successful in their pursuit, the Nerazzurri will offer Young a contract that runs until the summer of 2021, Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport reports.

Young is one of United's longest-serving players, appearing in over 250 matches since joining the Red Devils from Aston Villa in 2011.

But his role at the club has been reduced in recent years, with the versatile English international appearing in just 12 contests in all competitions this season under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Inter are currently level on points with reigning champions Juventus for the top spot in Serie A after 18 matches.
