Icardi named to Inter's Serie A squad list despite uncertain future
Mauro Icardi may not be going anywhere after all, as the forward was included in Inter's squad list for the upcoming Serie A campaign.
Friday's announcement also confirmed the 26-year-old will wear No. 7 this season while new arrival Romelu Lukaku sports the Argentine's old No. 9.
It seemed a departure was inevitable earlier this summer after CEO Giuseppe Marotta asserted Icardi was not in Inter's future plans and the club sent him home during its preseason training camp in Switzerland.
Icardi was stripped of the captain's armband last season after comments made by his agent and wife, Wanda Nara.
He cast further doubt over his future when he refused to play in a Europa League game in February and then missed a month of action with a supposed knee injury that Inter claimed scans did not detect.
Inter kick off their season on Monday against Lecce.
