Gonzalo Higuain's summer transfer is proving to be a case of Juventus' loss equating to AC Milan's gain.

The striker has been in scintillating form for the Rossoneri since arriving as part of the blockbuster deal with the Bianconeri which saw Leonardo Bonucci return to Turin.

However, the 30-year-old has revealed the switch was not his decision and that he was forced toward the door after the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.

"The decision to leave was not mine," Higuain told Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, as translated by BBC Sport. "I gave everything for Juventus, I won several titles, after which Cristiano arrived. The club wanted to make a leap in quality and they told me that I could not stay and that they were trying to find a solution. The best solution was Milan."

He continued: "I only feel affection (for Juventus) because they treated me very well. My teammates and the fans treated me really well, but I never asked to leave. Basically, as everyone says, they kicked me out."

Higuain was Juventus' record signing before the arrival of Ronaldo. The Argentina international won two Serie A and Coppa Italia doubles and reached one Champions League final in his two seasons with the club, and was surely disappointed to have found himself surplus to requirements this summer.

Milan are unlikely to care one bit. Though he has missed two games through injury, Higuain has led by example at the San Siro so far this season, scoring six goals across seven appearances in Serie A and the Europa League. He's proved he has plenty left to offer a club that wants him as its main man.
