Davide Zappacosta revealed that Inter Milan attempted to lure him back to Italy this summer, but insisted that he's happy at Chelsea.
But the 26-year-old said he may have to reconsider his future at Stamford Bridge unless he gets regular playing time under new manager Maurizio Sarri.
After joining the Premier League side from Torino last season for a reported €28-million fee, Zappacosta made only 12 appearances and struggled to convince former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte that he was worth featuring regularly in the first team.
It's been a similar story this season, as the right-back has yet to feature in a match under the new regime. Although he attracted interest from abroad, Zappacosta is eager to prove that he's worthy of a place in the starting team at Chelsea.
"I want to try to give the coach food for thought, also because my objective is to remain in the reckoning for Italy. Inter sought me in the summer, but I am happy here," Zappacosta told Italian outlet Il Corriere dello Sport, as translated by ESPN FC.
"If I were not to play much, though, I'd think about (leaving). Nobody likes being on the bench."
After apparently failing to sign Zappacosta, Inter turned their attention to Sime Vrsaljko, who joined the Italian side on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.
