Juventus was dealt a pair of potentially calamitous blows during Sunday's 1-0 win against city rival Torino, losing Gonzalo Higuain and Federico Bernardeschi to respective ankle and knee injuries.
Higuain required a substitution just 15 minutes in after a collision with Torino goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, while Bernardeschi - who replaced the Argentine - succumbed to pain in his knee in second-half stoppage time.
"During today's derby against Torino, Gonzalo Higuain sustained a sprain and bruising of his left ankle, while Federico Bernardeschi sustained a knock to his left knee." the club announced. "For both players, further tests are planned in the coming days."
There's optimism Higuain will return for Juventus' return leg March 7 against Tottenham, according to Sky Sport Italia, but Bernardeschi's season is apparently hanging in the balance. If scans show damage to his cruciate ligament, the Italian would face several months on the sidelines.
Higuain had reclaimed his match-winning form in recent weeks, scoring eight goals in his previous five matches. Bernadeschi was also enjoying regular football for the first time this season.
