Watch: Firecracker explodes near Lyon 'keeper, match abandoned
beIN
Anthony Lopes was receiving treatment Saturday when a daft fan threw a firecracker towards him.
Metz defender Guido Milan attempted to warn everyone in the vicinity to move, but the Lyon 'keeper, along with a member of the team's medical staff, didn't get out of the way in time, and the firecracker exploded just inches away form him.
The match was abandoned as a result.
Lopes was writhing in pain, while players from Metz - which held a 1-0 lead at the time - and Lyon looked towards the stands and pleaded with supporters to refrain from such behaviour.
Lyon confirmed that Lopes was taken to a hospital to receive further treatment for an unspecified injury.
A makeup date has yet to be announced.
