Lyon rejects Arsenal's €35M offer for Alexandre Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette won't be going to the Emirates Stadium unless Arsenal is willing to cough up more money.

Olympique Lyonnais published a statement Tuesday announcing that Arsenal submitted a €35-million offer for Lacazette, which Les Gones rejected.

Lyon also said the club will keep Lacazette, calling the French forward "irreplaceable" and "one of the principal leaders of Bruno Genesio's group."

It was reported at the beginning of July that Arsenal was prepared to pay the €40-million fee to trigger talks with Lyon over Lacazette. When the Gunners announced they "remain in the market" while confirming their signing of Rob Holding, there was inevitably speculation that the 25-year-old was on his way to Arsene Wenger's side.

A converted winger who takes the pitch for Lyon as a centre-forward, Lacazette is believed to be entering the prime of his career.
