Paris Saint-Germain have missed out on another transfer target.
In the wake of confirmation that Neymar is slated to miss 10 weeks with a foot injury, the club attempted to sign attacking midfielder Luciano Acosta from D.C. United as cover, according to multiple reports.
But shortly after the closure of the January transfer window on Thursday evening, Steven Goff of the Washington Post reported that the deal for the 24-year-old had fallen apart.
Acosta, who led MLS with 15 assists in 2018, was expected to join the Ligue 1 champions in a transfer said to be worth around €10 million.
But PSG boss Thomas Tuchel, who reportedly signed off on the move for the creative Argentine, will now have to fill the Neymar-sized hole in his squad from within.
