Dani Alves has a chance of overcoming a knee injury in time to feature for Brazil at the World Cup in Russia next month, Paris Saint-Germain announced Wednesday.

The right-back suffered the injury late in Tuesday's Coup de France triumph over Les Herbiers.

The injury was initially believed to be serious enough to prevent Alves from representing Brazil, but the latest update revealed that he could only be forced to miss up to three weeks, which rules him out of the rest of the season for PSG.

A statement, obtained by Jonathan Johnson of ESPN FC, read: "Following Daniel Alves' right knee injury, which occurred yesterday during the French Cup final, the tests performed today showed a high detachment of the anterior cruciate ligament with posterolateral sprain," the statement said. "His condition requires a minimum of three weeks of care before re-evaluation. "

If he's given a clean bill of health, Alves, 35, is expected to be part of Tite's team when the Brazilian manager reveals his World Cup squad on Monday.

Brazil, who will attempt to win its sixth World Cup, will face Switzerland, Costa Rica, and Serbia during the group stage in Russia.
