Charles Leclerc: Recovery Drive at Sepang

Rotowire• ·

Leclerc finished fourth in the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia Formula 1 race at the Sepang International Circuit on Sunday.

Analysis:

The race would start in wet conditions due to a lengthy downpour that would delay the start. Ferrari would make a tactical error and deploy Leclerc for the start on soft tyres. Lap 1 contact with Nico Hulkenberg would force Leclerc to pit for a new front wing and intermediate tyres that would grip better in the wet conditions. He would tumble to last place as a result. Leclerc would begin his recovery drive, aided by a lap 9 safety car. He would break back inside the Top 10 on lap 23 and stay there the remainder of the race. A late overtake of Isack Hadjar would reward Leclerc with P4 in Malaysia.
