Police in Buenos Aires searched the house and office of Diego Maradona's doctor Sunday after Argentine prosecutors launched an investigation into the football icon's death for possible manslaughter, according to BBC News.
Roughly 30 officers were present at each location.
Authorities are trying to establish whether Maradona, who died Wednesday of a heart attack, received proper care and treatment from Dr. Leopoldo Luque after undergoing surgery for a brain blood clot earlier in November.
Maradona was due to be treated for alcohol dependency before dying at his residence at the age of 60.
Luque insisted during a Sunday press conference that he cared for Maradona to the best of his abilities, adding he is cooperating with police.
It's understood Maradona's daughters have urged authorities to look into the circumstances of his death.
Maradona's lawyer, Matias Morla, previously called for an investigation into the time it took for an ambulance to arrive at the Argentine legend's residence. Morla claims the ambulance took more than 30 minutes to arrive after notification, while Luque claims it arrived within 12 minutes.
