Sevilla hit with partial stadium closure after derby incidents
Sevilla were issued a three-match partial stadium closure on Wednesday after some of their supporters threw objects onto the pitch during a 2-0 derby defeat by Real Betis on Sunday.
The match was suspended for 15 minutes after home fans at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan tossed objects including plastic bottles and lighters at players in the final stages of the La Liga clash.
The Spanish football federation's disciplinary committee fined Sevilla 45,000 euros ($52,000) and imposed the three-game closure for what they deemed "very serious violations" of the disciplinary code.
The three Sevilla home matches affected in La Liga are against Real Oviedo, Levante and Celta Vigo.
Sevilla are 13th, four points above the relegation zone after the defeat by their city rivals.
