Barcelona will be without Neto for up to two months after their backup goalkeeper underwent hand surgery.
The club announced Tuesday that the Brazil international fractured the scaphoid in his left hand during a training session in the United States.
Neto, who joined Barcelona this summer from Valencia for €26 million, is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.
Barcelona will deploy Marc-Andre ter Stegen between the sticks when they kick off their La Liga campaign against Athletic Bilbao on Friday.
