Ajax didn't just end Real Madrid's three-season reign as the kingpins of European football. They did it in style.

The Santiago Bernabeu is no stranger to scintillating, attractive play, but on an unprecedented Champions League night, it was the visiting side that provided the spectacle. Dusan Tadic was the primary conductor of an unforgettable 4-1 win for the Dutch club, running roughshod over Real Madrid's midfield with a combination of subtle feints, outrageous tricks, and even a thunderous tally that put the final nail in Los Blancos' coffin.

By the time referee Felix Brych blew the final whistle to end Madrid's extended stint atop the Champions League pyramid, Ajax had not only secured a famous triumph - they'd also compiled quite the highlight reel.

In chronological order, here are the best moments of skill from a wild 90 minutes in the Spanish capital:

De Jong vs. Modric: A glimpse into the future

Frenkie de Jong hasn't played a match for Barcelona yet and he's already becoming a legend in Catalonia. The 21-year-old, who will move to the Camp Nou this summer, was a dominant force over both legs of the last-16 tie. En route to helping Ajax reach the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time since 2003, De Jong left Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric in a heap:

Neres retires Carvajal

In a squad loaded with young stars, Brazilian forward David Neres doesn't get the attention he deserves. But after putting Dani Carvajal on a poster with this move, people are destined to familiarize themselves with his talents:

Take a bow, Dusan

Discarded by Southampton, Tadic has been the focal point of Ajax's attack this season. The smooth Serbian midfielder showed off his entire arsenal on Tuesday, setting up a pair of goals before netting one of his own - more on that in a minute. Casemiro is going to have nightmares about this roulette move, which teed up Neres' strike:

An encore from Tadic

After turning another professional footballer into a pretzel, Tadic added to his own personal highlight reel, unleashing this thunderbolt into the top corner:

Schone's stunner caps it off

Did he mean it? Who cares. Lasse Schone's whipped free-kick soared over the outstretched arm of Thibaut Courtois, putting a late exclamation point on an incredible night for Ajax and a disastrous one for Real Madrid:
