Cristiano Ronaldo's lawyers will pursue a lawsuit against Der Spiegel after the German outlet published a report detailing rape accusations against the Portuguese star.

His representatives vehemently denied the allegation brought forward by Kathryn Mayorga, an American woman who told the magazine that she was raped by the Juventus forward in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.

A statement obtained by Reuters from Ronaldo's lawyer, Christian Schertz, says the story was "an inadmissible reporting of suspicions in the area of privacy," and that they will pursue "moral damages in an amount corresponding to the gravity of the infringement, which is probably one of the most serious violations of personal rights in recent years."

According to Mayorga, the incident took place when Ronaldo, who was a member of Real Madrid at the time, was on vacation in the United States. The pair later reached an out-of-court agreement, according to Mayorga's lawyer, Leslie Mark Stovall.

Stovall says Mayorga accepted a payment of $375,000 and agreed to never speak of the incident again.

"I’ve had like these serious breakdowns," Mayorga told Der Spiegel. "And again, blaming of the rape. And I blame him, and I blame myself for signing that thing."

Mayorga also said in the report, via The Telegraph, that Ronaldo "fell to his knees" after the alleged rape and insisted that he was "99 percent a good guy" while blaming his actions on the other "one per cent."
